All of us are teachers after a fashion–at least from time to time.
Whenever you are in the role of teacher you have 2 jobs:
- Teach whatever you are teaching.
- Be a model of self-love without exceptions.
Without exceptions means no self-deprecating comments (even humorous) nor sarcasm of any kind.
Self-deprecation is obviously antithetical to self-love, as self-deprecating humor will diminish the resonance self-love to zero fairly quickly.
I am well aware of the great affection for the gifts of sarcastic comedians such as George Carlin. Everyone gives their gifts at the level they are at and we are all ascending. It does not diminish anyone’s gifts to understand the spiritual nature of sarcasm. The distilled core of sarcasm is anger. In teaching, sarcasm will resonate one or more of:
- a resentment toward oneself (self-deprecating humor)
- a resentment toward subject matter
- a resent toward an individual or group
All 3 of the above are antithetical to self-love. We are each part of a greater body of awareness. As individuals, we have many cells that comprise the larger body of awareness of the individual. So to, we individuals are all inextricably connected and comprise a larger body of awareness which includes all sentient beings and subject matter. Thus, to emanate self-resentment toward anything comprising the larger body of awareness is antithetical to self-love because it is resenting a part of the larger body which one is connected to–our higher and larger identity.
